Homeowner? Here’s exactly how to get your permit

Follow these steps in order. Big buttons, no guesswork.

1

Find your town

Type the ZIP code of the property into the box at the top of this page and hit Find it. Your town card and inspector contacts will appear.

2

Get the application

On your town card, tap a gold application button to open the form. Fill it out on your computer or print it — either works.

3

Fill it out

You’ll need: the property address, what work you’re doing, who’s doing it (contractor name + license if you hired one), and a rough drawing or plan if the form asks. Use the checklist below so you don’t miss anything.

4

File it

Send it the way the town wants: online through their portal, or take it in / mail it to the address on your town card. There’s usually a fee — the town card notes tell you who to ask.

📞 Call the permit office
5

Schedule inspections

After your permit is approved, call the inspector contact on the right side of your results to schedule each inspection. Don’t cover up work until it’s inspected.
